“1000 vehicles a day but it doesn’t feel busy.”

The Noordpolder AC site is a joint initiative of the boroughs Alblasserdam, Hendrik-Ido Ambacht, Ridderkerk and Zwijndrecht . Netwerk NV is the administrator and proprietor of the AC site. This makes the Noordpolder one of the largest AC sites where construction and demolition waste, electronic devices, bulky waste, small hazardous waste, old metals, rubble and the like are deposited.

The challenge
Patrick van Drunen, Head of Production Planning with Netwerk NV: “Our main objective was to gain more transparency in the number of visitors to the AC site and to ensure that we could ultimately recharge the costs of use to the right municipality. That is why we wanted to equip the AC site with an access control system. All the residents of affiliated municipalities are provided with access passes. There are many factors involved in such decisions. In addition to choosing the right location, we also had to choose firms for implementation and support services. Grontmij, for example, laid the foundation with the construction drawings, BAM took charge of the civil engineering works and GMT, as contractual partner, made sure that the operational side of the AC site was functioning in practice.
